Artist Statement

I believe there is so much otherworldly peace we can access simply by taking in the natural world and the beauty it provides to us. From the way that the light reflects an apple at approximately 5:47pm or the vibrancy of fall decorating the trees above, all these moments deserve to be captured and that is what I seek to do. Believing there is a mastermind behind it all, I seek to reveal a deeper beauty and reality in the seemingly mundane by highlighting color, lighting, and texture with paint on a canvas. I not only want my viewers to see a “landscape” but rather form of light and color dancing in harmony, sparking interest in the audience about their purpose and their value as a human being, so much that they are thinking about it after they walk away from the piece.

Ever since I was young, I have felt deeply about beauty. Since I was two years old, I have made paintings, even though my watercolor waterfalls would defy gravity. Nature has always been a theme in my artwork, translating the world around me with a brushstroke. I pressed into this desire by going to an arts middle and high school where I dedicated my time to honing my skills. I received my BFA in fine art with a concentration of painting at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. Through college, my work slowly started evolving into the impressionist style I exhibit in my work today, taking inspiration from artists like Alfred Sisley and Erin Hanson. I start by painting my canvases in a bright color, usually leaning orange or red, and I go to town, oftentimes letting a bit of the bright color of the canvas seep through. This brings a sense of unity to the composition. The joy for painting and capturing beauty has only deepened over the years, and I hope that my artwork inspires you to find joy and peace in the simple yet profound creation surrounding us.
